Harvesting of Tasmanian Carrots Will Begin in W50 With the Goal of Reducing Domestic Pressure

The beginning of the holiday season in Australia coincides with the strong domestic demand for carrots. There is a limited carrot volume for exports, mainly from WA. All East Coast crops are used to fulfill domestic consumption. In W50, Tasmanian carrots will start to be harvested to lessen domestic strain. Prices are forecasted to be generally stable compared to 2021, and volumes for export will be ready by January 2023. The cost of freight has increased, which contributes to a more resilient export season. This season, growers are eager to investigate new markets to help spread out their risk. In W47, the FOB price of carrots in Australia stood at USD 0.68–0.74/kg (AUD 1.00–1.10/kg).
