Introduction of new peanut varieties in Tanzania

Tanzania government through the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute(TARI) set to become one of the largest producers of improved peanut varieties in the world. The increase in the production of peanuts will help reduce the amount of foreign currency spent on importing edible oil.
According to the Food and Agriculture Organisation, in 2018 Tanzania produced 940,000tonnes of peanut making it the 10th biggest producer of oilseed globally.
