US cherries are low in supply this season, which has been reflected in the US’s cherry export markets like South Korea. With a massive domestic fruit harvest, both South Korea retailers and end consumers have chosen to purchase and consume South Korea-origin fruits, which are markedly less expensive compared to cherries. To note, retailers got their hands on US cherries for KRW 50,000-60,000 (USD 38.32 - 45.98) per box last year, compared to the current rate of KRW 100,000 (USD 76.65) per box.
