In order to meet its targets of food security and nutrition targets within the country, Guinea Bissau has requested assistance from Nigeria in the production of its rice. This due to the fact that almost 90% of the rice consumed in Guinea Bissau is imported, and the aim is to reduce this value and create more production of local rice, especially considering that Guinea itself was once a great exporter of rice, exporting to countries such as Angola, Mozambique, and Portugal.
