The rainy season in Indonesia had an impact on shrimp farming in W40. The rainfall intensity has also caused an increase in disease attacks in some shrimp ponds in Indonesia. Some diseases that affect shrimp in the rainy season are WSSV (white spot) and IMNV (infectious myonecrosis virus). These two diseases have a high mortality rate, and if not treated, the mortality rate of shrimp can reach 100%. Based on information from shrimp farmers in Lampung, specifically in East Lampung, an increase in WSSV intensity has been observed. If the WSSV and IMNV outbreaks occur, it is not possible that shrimp prices will fall again due to the high intensity of shrimp harvest. Early shrimp harvesting is the last strategy by shrimp farmers to avoid high shrimp mortality rates due to virus attacks.
