The import of Vanamei broodstock from a significant US supplier based in Hawaii has been suspended by the Indian government. From March 18, 2023, the Aquatic Quarantine Facility will not receive any shrimp from this supplier, until further orders. The primary cause of this restriction is the discovery of the EHP (Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei) pathogen in shipments from this supplier in December 2022. If the suspension is not lifted and there is insufficient broodstock, shrimp prices will probably be affected soon.
