Exotic fruits usually experience a sales peak during the Christmas season in Europe. Some of these exotic fruits, namely pineapple, mango, and persimmon, have become so popular during 2019-2021 that the demand is steady all year round. Thus, though a slight decrease in sales is observed, the market share for new exotic varieties is growing.

Moreover, customers in European countries are more receptive to less known subtropical fruits such as dragon fruit, purple passion fruit, granadilla, cape gooseberry. Thus, the sales peak season can be considered an opportunity for new varieties, especially for small-sized fruits.
