Climate change has transformed the agricultural landscape in Southern Italy, where farmers are increasingly switching from citrus to the more profitable tropical fruit such as mango over the past eight years. The 2022 Italian mango season is excellent, with the Glenn variety already available in the market at USD 4.70/kg EXW. The rising cost of electricity and packaging has increased the price by 16% compared to August 2021. The main demand for mangoes produced in Sicily comes from Northern Italy, Switzerland, and the Netherlands.
