The recent heat waves in Spain have caused tomatoes to ripen quickly, leading to a period of tomato scarcity. This is evident from the current price of cherry tomatoes, which stands at USD 2.72/kg in W33 compared to a price range of USD 1.63 to USD 2.18/kg that prevailed during W32. Moreover, tomato prices are expected to rise further to USD 3.27/kg in the near future, and the situation of scarcity and upward trend in prices will continue until the winter season, approximately November.
