A batch of 3,200 turkeys infected with the Avian Influenza virus was slaughtered in Turkey. The country's poultry exports to Europe are suspended for the next three months. The spread of the virus in Europe has been caused by the migration of wild birds. Initially, the disease found in the Skane region of Southern Sweden had already killed 1,400 turkeys. Swedish authorities are closely monitoring other farms in the affected area for signs of the virus. They asked the public to immediately report the finding of birds dead in the wild to the health authorities. Germany is currently evaluating the possibility of slaughtering up to 70,000 chickens after finding a strain of the virus in another farm. Other cases have been reported in France, Holland, Denmark and Great Britain.
