Updated Feb 3, 2023
Most of Taiwan's imported asparagus comes from Thailand, Mexico, and Peru. Taiwan is seeing an asparagus shortage due to low local and import supply. In January 2023, Taiwan faced low asparagus supply due to a cold front. Additionally, Thailand also has an asparagus shortage due to cold weather. On the other hand, Peru is entering the hottest summer period, causing a drop in the asparagus supply. Taiwanese importers are anticipating the start of the Mexican growing season and looking for alternative origins to cover the asparagus demand.
