Tanzania aims to boost soybean production in an effort to grow the agricultural sector by 10% by 2030. The focus on soybeans is in pursuit of the lucrative Chinese market with the two countries having already set mutually beneficial strategies to promote soybean trade. The Tanzanian Ministry of Agriculture’s strategy is to have 10,000 farms cultivated by 2030. To meet this objective, the government has set aside 100,000 hectares for soybean production in the Mbeya Region located in the country’s Southern Highlands.
