The descreasing price of gourmet vanilla at the wholesalers level in Indonesia due to the low demand

Following the slowing down of demand of gourmet vanilla from major importing countries such as France and the USA, the majority of vanilla suppliers in Indonesia are now trying to improve their sales by offering a lower price for their product. Previously, in the entirety of the second quarter of 2020, the price of gourmet vanilla was pretty much consistent at IDR 330.000-350.000/Kg. At the moment, these suppliers are offering their gourmet vanilla at IDR 260.000-280.000/Kg. This initiative was primarily taken in order to sell their product quickly to avoid losing the freshness of their product, and also to sell their product before the next harvest season in the span of December 2020 to January 2020, when the price of vanilla tends to be at its lowest.
