Uncertain expectations are expected to continue in the coming weeks for the plums market. The plum market has been relatively stable with a good rotation, encouraging sales, and reasonable price levels FOT Rotterdam. In this respect, sales prices during the past week moved between EUR 8.50 and EUR 13.00 for a 5.0 kg box, depending on the variety and the size.
The demand for plums remains steady, and as mentioned previously, the rotation of the stocks is satisfactory. Especially considering the situation of 2021 whereby a massive amount of boxes arrived together in Rotterdam, collapsing the market balance. The volume exported was 16.2 million boxes versus 8.9 million containers shipped in 2020.
For this year, it is estimated that a volume of 14.8 million boxes will be exported this season, which may explain why plum importers remain so cautious.
