The SADC has launched an appeal to raise funds together with its region's countries to combat the African Migratory locust, which has been plaguing the Southern Region of Africa since May. This situation has affected the SADC countries and has become a growing concern for the food and nutrition security in the region. Therefore the SADC has launched a regional appeal of US$ 20million of funds to combat the outbreaks, and these funds will cater to emergency locust response, coordination, building emergency regional response, facility, and ground surveillance, mapping, and early warning procedures for anticipatory actions, among other preventative measures.
