The trend in Portugal is vegan products and dairy-free products because many dairy products have steroid use and are high in saturated fats, increasing cholesterol levels and even the risk of coronary heart disease. Some of the products having a very good performance are the vegan ice cream. In ice cream production, the substitute for milk is coconut milk, but the shelf life of the coconut milk once opened is short, so in Portugal, there is a big necessity for coconut milk powder. It is tough to find suppliers of coconut milk powder with no caseinate, which means 100% vegan and 0% animal protein added. The most common suppliers with coconut milk powder with no caseinate are from Thailand, Vietnam, and Sri Lanka.
