A study prepared by LA UNIÓ de Llauradors, through the latest Surface Survey of the Ministry of Agriculture, reflects that the producers of the Valencian Community stopped cultivating a total of 2,056 hectares of mandarins and of 888 hectares of persimmon throughout 2021. The sharp drop in the production area of mandarins is due to the low prices of the products, which resulted from the competition from citrus from South Africa, which increased in 2021
On the other hand, the lemon production area increased significantly with 1,200 hectares, the avocado area with 714 more hectares, the olive with 264, the vineyard with 166 hectares, the orange 275 hectares, and the tiger nut tree with 139 hectares.
