US potato imports were up 19% from July through September 2020, according to data released by the specialized marketing association Potatoes USA. The East Coast retail market was predominately responsible for the increase in the fresh potato segment. Canada was a major benefactor of this, accounting for 28% of the fresh potato import growth, based on the exchange rate and locational advantages lowering freight costs. US frozen potato imports were also up 20% over the period.
