50.2 million tons of feed have been prepared in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Agriculture, together with local executive bodies, continues to work on the development of forage production. In order to take measures to expand the area of irrigated land for forage crops, develop seed production of forage crops, purchase agricultural machinery, and increase the productivity of pasture lands, the department is working to update the Roadmap for the Development of Forage Production. This year, the area under forage crops, according to regional data, exceeded 3.2 million hectares, which is 83.5 thousand hectares more than in 2023. At the same time, the share of forage crops placed on arable land was about 14% (in 2023 - 13%). It is planned to prepare 24.5 million tons of hay (1.5-year - 36.7 million tons), haylage - 1.7 million tons, straw - 4.6 million tons, concentrated feed - 5.5 million tons and silage - 2.0 million tons.
