A joint study by the 'Anti-counterfeit' international association and the Union of Cognac, Spirits and Alcoholic Beverages Producers has revealed shocking results about the safety and authenticity of Armenian cognacs sold in Russian stores. The research, which analyzed 200 samples from over 20 brands across ten major Armenian producers, uncovered a startling 89% non-compliance with Russian legislation and standards. A significant finding indicated that nearly half of the samples contained non-grape spirits, a crucial ingredient for cognac. This startling discovery has led the Anti-counterfeit Association to reach out to key authorities, including the Prosecutor General's Office, the Federal Customs Service, and Rosalkogoltobakkontrol, expressing concerns over the widespread sale of substandard and counterfeit alcoholic products from Armenia. The association's CEO, Kristina Skripnik, emphasized the serious implications of these findings for market fairness and the sustainability of local producers, highlighting the urgent need for increased vigilance and enforcement action to protect consumers and ensure the integrity of the Russian alcohol market.
