Between January and April 2022, Chile experienced a 12.3% decrease in vegetable exports, totaling $137.9 million FOB, as reported by the Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa). Despite this decline, the value of tomato exports saw a 16.1% increase, reaching $42.1 million FOB, with 95.7% of these exports being tomato paste. Garlic exports, on the other hand, fell by 26.6% in value and 10% in volume, primarily due to a decrease in exports to Mexico. Onion exports experienced a positive trend, with a 24.4% increase in value and 46.6% in volume, largely attributed to shipments to Spain and Brazil. However, exports to six out of the top ten destinations saw a reduction in value compared to the previous year.
