South Korea: Chungnam Agricultural Research Institute secures KRW 16.9 billion for pilot project in food crop sector

The South Chungcheong Province Agricultural Research and Extension Services secured 16.9 billion won for pilot projects in the food crop field this year. Chungnam Agricultural Research Institute is promoting 43 types of pilot projects at 241 sites in the province this year. The main pilot projects include direct sowing of rice, development of a specialized seed potato production complex, expansion of double cropping to improve food self-sufficiency, and operation of a seed bank for regionally specialized crops. In addition, we plan to expand precision agriculture, build smart equipment, and distribute irrigation systems for field crops to solve the difficulties of farmers in the province and increase competitiveness.
