The Global Science Group on Genetic Innovation within One CGIAR is launching a project to boost the productivity and marketability of essential crops in Africa, including groundnut, sorghum, and millet, through the Accelerated Varietal Improvement and Seed Delivery of Legumes and Cereals in Africa (AVISA) project. Led by the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), the initiative aims to enhance partnerships and modernize seed systems, with a focus on public-private collaborations. Initially set in Burkina Faso, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali, Nigeria, Uganda, and Tanzania, the project seeks to enhance the resilience of farming systems and improve the health and livelihoods of millions across the continent.
