Cold snap delayed the start of the season of local garden strawberries in Moldova

At the end of March, large volumes of garden strawberries (strawberries) from Greece appeared on the wholesale and retail markets of Moldova. The wholesale price is quite standard - 80 lei / kg (4.3 dollars per kg) and does not exceed last year's price, EastFruit agency analysts say. There is no big spread in prices, since the circle of suppliers has long been formed. In recent years, early garden strawberries, as well as niche berries (blueberries, sea buckthorn, honeysuckle) enter the Moldovan market through Romania. At the same time, 80%-90% of all imports of berries into the country (400-700 tons) are sold in the spring months. In the current season, the first supplies of seasonal imported berries appeared in the wholesale and retail sales channels of Moldova in mid-March, simultaneously with the start of the sales season on open markets.
