The article explores the current high price of Cat Chu mangoes in Dong Thap province, Vietnam, due to a decrease in production caused by heavy rain and dew. This has resulted in a significant profit for growers like Nguyen Van Thang, who despite planting on a small scale, has seen success. The province is actively promoting a specialized mango-growing area, focusing on Cat Chu mangoes, which account for 60% of the total planting area. To ensure a steady supply and high profits, the province suggests a seasonal mango cultivation model, which has shown to yield 1.5-2 times more than the main crop. The Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Dong Thap is advocating for this approach to help farmers navigate the challenges of concentrated output and price drops, aiming for profits exceeding 200-220 million VND/ha.
