The North Atlantic Pelagic Advocacy Group (NAPA), representing over 70 companies and the majority of Norway's salmon production, has issued an open letter to the Norwegian Government expressing concern over the future of the Northeast Atlantic blue whiting fishery and its impact on the fish feed supply chain and salmon production. The group emphasizes the importance of blue whiting to the global fishmeal industries and highlights the need for sustainable management to ensure the industry's security. NAPA is urging the Norwegian Government to engage with them to develop a sustainable sharing agreement for the blue whiting stock, as the Fishery Improvement Project (FIP) for this species is set to expire in October, and major fish-feed industry partners may cease purchases if no agreement is reached.
