The 2021 global potato yield reached a record high of 376.1 million tonnes, according to the FAO, with the cultivation area increasing by 7.4% to 18 million hectares, largely driven by Asia's 15% growth. However, the European region saw a decrease of 3.5% in 2021, covering 4.3 million hectares. The preliminary data for 2022 indicates a significant drop in production, estimated at -6%, due to reductions in cultivation area and adverse weather conditions.
