In January 2021, Chile's Office of Agricultural Studies and Policies (Odepa) reported a positive balance in vegetable trade, with exports totaling $39.4 million and imports at $15.3 million. The exports were mainly garlic (47.4% of the value) and tomatoes, with a significant increase in garlic exports and a decrease in tomato exports compared to the previous year. Mexico and Japan were the main destinations for Chile's horticultural exports. Imports included various vegetables and pasta, with China, the USA, and Peru being the primary suppliers.
