Uzbekistan: In the Samarkand region, bananas and lemons are grown in greenhouses

In the Bulungur district of the Samarkand region of Uzbekistan, they began to grow bananas and lemons as part of a program to diversify agricultural production and increase the income of local farmers, reports Xabar.uz with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan. In particular, one of the residents of the Sarkipchak district has good results: he built a greenhouse on 8 acres of his land, planted lemons and bananas there, and has already received his first income. According to him, up to 1 ton of lemons can be harvested from an annual lemon tree. And the first harvest of bananas in his greenhouse amounted to 400 kg, which he sold for 15 million soums. At first there were only 10 banana seedlings in the greenhouse, but now their number has increased to 50.
