The Bulungur district in Uzbekistan has started growing bananas and lemons to diversify agricultural production and increase local farmers' income. A resident of the Sarkipchak district has successfully built a greenhouse and planted lemons and bananas, yielding a harvest of 400 kg of bananas and up to 1 ton of lemons annually, earning 15 million soums. Growing tropical fruits like bananas is seen as a potentially stable and income-generating business, with Uzbekistan purchasing over 133 thousand tons of bananas worth over $95 million in 2023.
