The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) in the Philippines has indicated that only four out of 11 product categories for Noche Buena, a traditional Christmas meal, have received price hike petitions from manufacturers. These categories are ham, tomato sauce, pasta, and creamer. The DTI is currently evaluating these requests and is expected to make a decision by early next month. Meanwhile, the prices of other Noche Buena products like fruit cocktail, cheese, sandwich spread, mayonnaise, keso de bola, pasta/spaghetti, and elbow and salad macaroni will not increase. The DTI will ensure a wide range of ham products at lower price adjustments to prevent profiteering. Manufacturers and retailers are reminded to adhere to the suggested retail prices (SRPs) issued by the DTI for basic necessities and prime commodities.
