The Government of the Region of Murcia is promoting aquaponics, a sustainable farming technique, to boost economic growth, create jobs, and stabilize the population. The technique involves producing fish and plants in a symbiotic system, optimizing water use and eliminating the need for fertilizers. The Regional Council is conducting trials to evaluate the effectiveness of different aquaponics systems and plans to build a 300-square-meter facility. The initiative is backed by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and will provide training and conferences for farmers and technicians interedested in the system.
