The Dutch Embassy in Colombia participated in the Fedepalma conference to gain insight into the palm oil industry's dynamics. The Embassy's main objectives were to introduce the NISCOPS program, which aims to train 3,500 smallholder farmers in sustainable palm oil production and help them comply with the EU Deforestation Regulation. This initiative is supported by the Netherlands and is expected to support these farmers in achieving RSPO certification and improved market access. Colombia's palm oil industry is already notable for its high deforestation-free production, with 99% of its palm oil. The Embassy's involvement underscores the importance of international cooperation in promoting sustainable palm oil production and economic development in Colombia.
