Gyeongbuk Province held the opening ceremony of the Gyeongbuk Freshwater Ornamental Fish Business Center on the 8th, attended by around 200 people including Gyeongbuk Province Economic Affairs Vice Governor Yang Geum-hee, the chairman of the Gyeongbuk Provincial Assembly's Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries Committee, assembly members, the mayor of Sangju City, representatives of related organizations for ornamental fish, and local residents, marking a new beginning for the domestic ornamental fish industry. The Freshwater Ornamental Fish Business Center was established with a total investment of 19 billion won (9.5 billion won from the national government and 9.5 billion won from the provincial government) to focus on nurturing the ornamental fish industry as a future growth industry in fisheries. The center, built on a site of 14,000 square meters with a total floor area of 4,538 square meters, includes a startup support office and ornamental fish education and research facilities on the first floor and an exhibition hall on the second floor.
