A shipment of Ri6 durian from Vietnam to the UK, cleared on May 4, has been distributed in supermarkets there, with more shipments expected soon. The quality of the durian and the UK-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (UKVFTA) providing tax-free importation are expected to give Vietnamese durians a competitive edge in the UK market. Trade experts suggest that digital marketing strategies are necessary for exporters to introduce these specialty fruits to UK consumers. Other Vietnamese specialty fruits like Bac Giang lychee, Tan Lac red grapefruit, Dien Yen Thuy pomelo, and Cao Phong orange have also been exported to the UK, meeting Global GAP standards.
