Canada's Minister of Fisheries, Oceans and the Canadian Coast Guard, Joyce Murray, has announced the decision to maintain the total allowable catch (TAC) for Northern shrimp in Shrimp Fishing Areas (SFA) 5 and 6, located off the coast of Newfoundland and Labrador. The TAC for Northern shrimp in SFA 5 will remain at 14,200t, and in SFA 6 will remain at 9,430t, supporting the sustainability of the fishery and providing economic opportunity to harvesters. The decision will promote the sustainable management of the Northern shrimp fishery in SFAs 5 and 6.
