The Ministry of Agriculture in Tanzania has produced four million quality sesame seeds as part of a strategy to reduce the country's reliance on imported edible oil, which costs the government 443 billion shillings annually. The Ministry has also strengthened the research activities of the palm oil crop and has produced over 4,205,335 quality palm oil seeds, which have been distributed to six regional councils in Kigoma. The Ministry has also received a tractor worth 75 million shillings to increase seed and seedling production efficiency.
