The Federation of Turkish Food and Drink Industry Associations (TGDF) has reported a significant increase in Turkey's import and export figures for the first 8 months of 2021. Exports saw an 18.8% increase compared to the previous year, reaching $13.8 billion, while imports rose by 14% to $10.6 billion. The report highlights high-volume products and sectors with the most increase or decrease in exports and imports. Notably, flour, hazelnut kernels, and pasta were the leading exports, while soybeans, wheat, and crude sunflower oil were the top imports. The animal feed and vegetable oil sectors experienced the most significant increases in imports. The report also points out that exports to Iraq, Germany, Russia, the USA, and Italy accounted for 35.5% of total exports.
