Spain: Government calls for community measures to alleviate the situation in agricultural sector

The Government conveys to Europe its concern about the difficult situation facing certain agricultural sectors in Spain, due to the increase in production costs, especially animal feed, energy and fertilizers in international markets. It is a generalized situation in the whole of the European Union and highlighted by all the ministers and ministers, which is why they have conveyed to the European Commission the need to adopt coordinated measures at Community level that help to alleviate the situation of the sectors most affected by production costs. In the Council of Ministers, the Minister of Agriculture, Luis Planas has expressed the need to provide support for farmers affected by the eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, on the island of La Palma, which has caused losses of banana plantations, vineyards, avocados, citrus fruits and livestock farms, as well as accommodation, facilities and pasture areas.
