The article discusses the performance of vegetable exports in the first quarter of 2022, revealing a 13.2% decrease in export value compared to the same period in the previous year, amounting to 94.6 million dollars FOB. Despite the overall decline, there was a notable 28.8% increase in the export value of tomatoes, reaching 30.1 million FOB dollars. On the other hand, garlic exports experienced a significant drop of 29.9%, with a decrease in both value and volume. Spain and Brazil emerged as the only major destinations showing an increase in the value of horticultural exports received, with Brazil experiencing the most substantial growth. Factors contributing to the overall decline include a decrease in exports to Mexico and Japan.
