Turkey is experiencing a crisis in red and minced meat prices, with citizens queuing to buy cheap meat. Treasury and Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati suggested a change in preference towards mutton meat to address the issue. Sencer Solakoğlu, President of the All Dairy, Meat and Cattle Breeders' Association (TÜSEDAD), attributed the high meat prices to the low number of animals in Turkey and imbalance in supply and demand. He forecasts that the crisis could continue for two to three years. Turkey's livestock market is currently about 2.5 times that of Europe, with the price of a calf being only a quarter in Europe. The lack of planning and insufficient transport for importing animals from Europe and South America have led to a significant price increase in meat worldwide.
