In 2021-22, the country harvested a record 21.8 million mt of wheat, up 28% from 2020-21. The country has extended the sowing area under this grain as a response to increasing global demand. The export potential is pegged at 14.5 million mt in 2021-22, up 5 million mt more than last season. However, the introduced 10 million quotas will cap the full potential.
