Cotton production in Nigeria is expected to reach 300,000 metric tonnes from 90,000 in 2019. The government is restricting the imports of cotton, investing in cultivating over 100,000 hectares in 23 States of the Federation and expects 300,000 metric tons of seed cotton to be produced by ginneries in Nigeria in 2020. The peak of the 2020 harvest season is expected to peak in May.
