Konjac emerges as a new export commodity from Indonesia

Konjac which is locally known as Porang in Indonesia has recently emerged is an export commodity from Indonesia. It a part of the family of root plants and is similar to cassava and potato. It is now commonly produced in local farmers around East Java. More and more farmers in this region are attracted by the business prospect of this commodity as the price in the global market is capable of reaching IDR 18.000/Kg. The local selling price of konjac in the domestic market of Indonesia is only IDR 8.000/Kg as the demand for local consumers is very less.
