German asparagus season has started, the average consumption is 1,7 kg/ person

The asparagus season has started in Germany, one of the big exporters in Europe. The local demand for the produce is also high, the average consumption 1,7 kg/ person, 131.000 tons in total a year. In the neighboring Austria with 800 ha land used for asparagus cultivation is also a significant European producer. So far the quality and the yield is satisfying for the farmers.
