After the disastrous episode of 2021, frost hit France again for three consecutive days in early April. Growers were once again faced with a frost event and used many preventative methods to try to combat the frosts, like the installation of braziers, candles, sprinklers, the use of windmills to bring warmer air to the ground, hot air cannon. Unfortunately, not all producers have these means at their disposal and these investments are sometimes extremely costly: from USD 21637.98/ha to USD 54094.95/ha for example for the installation of anti-frost nets. The government has announced once again the release of emergency aid to compensate producers affected by the frost. This climate hazard, which seems to be becoming recurrent, shows the need to reinforce certain measures, in particular aid for prevention and adaptation, but also compensation with a more incentive-based insurance system (in 2020, only 18.2% of agricultural land was covered by multi-risk weather insurance).
