The cultivated area of cotton from the Brazilian top producing state, Mato Grosso, is expected to reduce by 10.6% next season 20/21. After having reached the largest cultivation area in history in the season 19/20, a substantial number of cotton farms are migrating to maize, mostly due to the retracted demand experienced during the pandemic and the increase of input costs (by 7.6%).
