Starting Thursday, 17 March, Potuga Fruit Company, began utilizing the Ozone treatment equipment for sanitization and fruit disinfection. Brought from Spain, this equipment provides the following benefits: It is 250 times more effective than chlorine. It is eco-friendly as it produces zero residue contamination compared to chlorine. Tridge Netherlands warehouse will start receiving the first ozone-treated watermelons in the first half of April 2022. UK scientists team will study the behavior of the application of this treatment in the following ten months to determine its effectiveness. The goal is to review the possibility of substituting the post-harvest product for 2023.
