Although the EU and the UK make up 75% of the global table grapes exports, South African suppliers are confident that they will be able to see significant growth over the next 5 years in the Far East and Asian markets. Since 2015 the South African table grapes industry has managed to unlock access to Thailand, China, and Vietnam. Increased exports are expected in South Korea and the Philippines in the 2021/2022 season.
There has also been a substantial investment by the South African government to increase its market share in China through advertising and marketing campaigns to major wholesalers and retailers.
