The government of Sri Lanka has put banned palm oil import on Monday, 5th Apr. Annually, Sri Lanka imported 200,000 tonnes of palm oil from Indonesia and Malaysia. At the same time, domestically, the Sri Lanka government also stop the cultivation of palm oil. Around 11,000 hectares of remain palm plantations in the country will be removed in a phased-out manner with 10% uprooting at a time and replaced with rubber and other crops that are more environmentally friendly.
