The most recent data released by the Ministry of Agriculture has shown that Indonesia would have enough stock of some of the most strategic agricultural commodities such as rice, corn, white sugar, beef, chicken meat until the end of December 2020. This data was put together with cooperation from government-owned enterprises and private companies. For rice and white sugar, in particular, it was published that there will be a surplus of stock of around 3-4 MMT which can be used to anticipate a possible surge in demand in January 2021. Reflecting on the data, it also means that Indonesia has closed its door for commodities that are usually sourced from other countries such as beef and chicken meat at least until mid-January 2021.
